AN EXHIBITION ON HOW THE STREETS IN KOROGOCHO COULD BE RECLAIMED
– THROUGH THE EYES OF A WOMAN.
OPENING EVENT ON THURSDAY 24TH OCTOBER AT 4 PM,
The exhibition is a continuation of the search for how our cities would look like Through the Eyes of a Woman. Dreams Become Architecture explores how architecture can work with social issues and equality, focusing on the public room in Korogocho – an area that faces challenges in terms of planning and formal structures. We believe that the public space should be equally accessible for everyone, but this is rarely the case. Traditionally the public sphere has been considered a masculine place, limiting the feminine space to the home. Through a series of spatial interventions, the architects Anna Larsson and Sofia Enquist, in collaboration with Dadas Connect and Hope Raisers, have gone under the surface to understand how architecture can question this norm, by understanding the street as a public area and analysing how it is used and can be used in the future.
Follow the stories from our heroes Lucy, Queen, Karo, Faith, Patricia and Mary Anne. We will present to you how dreams can become architecture.
